GEN Law Firm is pleased to announce that our Shanghai Office has been recognized as a "Model Site of Trade Secret Protection" for its outstanding service in trade secret protection. Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Administration for Market Regulation (Shanghai SAMR) announced the first batch of "Shanghai Trade Secret Protection Model Sites" on March 16, 2023, and the GEN Law Firm's Shanghai Office was among the recipients.

This commendation comes as a result of the firm's dedication to implementing the requirements of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) to strengthen trade secret protection work, promote reform and innovation in this area, and drive innovative and high-quality economic development. Previously, GEN Law Firm Shanghai Office was awarded the "Shanghai Jing'an District Trade Secret Protection Model Site" in November 2022, with partner Simon Du attending the award ceremony.

GEN Law Firm's trade secret protection team has garnered considerable acclaim from the industry. The latest Chambers Greater China Region 2023 report states, "The firm has made significant contributions to the protection of trade secrets." GEN's lawyers have authored numerous legal articles on commercial secrets, including "Trade Secret 2023" for Lexology GTDT. Jerry Xia, in charge of the firm’s patent and trade secret practice, has also received professional recognition within the industry.

The team members at our law firm have achieved remarkable results in the field of trade secret protection. For example, we represented a client in a case involving the theft of trade secrets from a Guangdong windpower company, which was selected as one of the "Top Ten Intellectual Property Judicial Cases in Guangdong Province in 2020." We successfully obtained a preliminary injunction for a multinational corporation, prohibiting a former employee from using trade secrets. This case was an exemplary and rare instance of behavioral preservation (temporary injunction) issued by a court after the implementation of the 2019 Judicial Interpretation on Intellectual Property Rights Behavioral Preservation.
