He Jing, partner at GEN Law, has recently been admitted as a Member of the Arbitral Tribunal by the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) under the Unified Patent Court (UPC), for a fixed term of five years starting from 1 June 2026. This admission was granted following consideration by the PMAC Director and the Expert Committee.

This appointment reflects He Jing's professional expertise in cross-border intellectual property and further highlights GEN Law's capabilities in cross-border intellectual property dispute resolution.

The PMAC of the UPC Officially Inaugurated

On 2 June 2026, PMAC held its official inauguration ceremony in Ljubljana, Slovenia, marking the formal commencement of its operations. As a statutory component of the UPC system, PMAC complements the European Unified Patent System by establishing an integrated mechanism for resolving patent disputes that combines litigation, mediation, and arbitration, filling a gap in diversified, non-litigation dispute resolution channels for high-tech intellectual property disputes in Europe.

This is the second round in which PMAC has publicly recruited neutral professionals, covering three categories: Members of the Arbitral Tribunal, Mediators, and Expert Neutrals. All candidates are subject to individual evaluation by the PMAC Director and an eleven-member Expert Committee to ensure they meet rigorous standards in patent law expertise, international arbitration experience, and relevant technical background.
