Jerry Xia, Partner

Jerry Xia is the founding and managing partner of GENLaw’s Shanghai office and California liaison office, and the co-chair of the firm’s patent and trade secret practice. With more than 20 years of practice, Mr. Xia has built a strong reputation in intellectual property, dispute resolution, brand licensing, and technology transactions. He has led IP licensing negotiations, conducted due diligence and carried out risk assessments for major cross border and domestic projects, and has secured landmark victories in a wide range of IP enforcement and protection matters such as unprecedented preliminary injunctions in patent and trade secret infringement lawsuits, maximum 5-fold punitive damages and well-known trademark rulings for international brands.

Steve Zhao, Partner

With 20 years of practice, Steve Zhao specializes in complex litigation involving trademarks, copyrights, plant variety rights, trade secrets, data rights, and other emerging IP categories. Steve has participated in numerous cases that have significantly shaped China's IP judicial practice. His exceptional litigation skills and innovative thinking have delivered critical victories for clients in major disputes. In 2023 alone, nine cases handled by Steve were selected as representative cases by the Supreme People's Court and various provincial high courts.
